October 14 – Former NBA icon and Los Angeles Lakers star Earvin “Magic” Johnson has joined forces with Snoop Dogg as an official community ambassador for the Los Angeles 2026 World Cup Host Committee.

The Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission (LAESC) called Magic “one of the most influential figures in sports and business.”

“I’m honoured to serve as an Official Community Ambassador for the Los Angeles World Cup 2026,” Johnson said. “I’ve lived in Los Angeles for over four decades and have seen how the power of sports can inspire, uplift, and unite people from all walks of life. I’m committed to supporting the Host Committee’s efforts to leave a lasting legacy throughout the tournament, ensuring Los Angeles shines on the world stage.”

A five-time NBA champion and Olympic gold medallist, Magic’s influence stretches far beyond sports to every facet of LA life. Through Magic Johnson Enterprises, he’s invested in underserved communities.

Kathryn Schloessman, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission, said Johnson’s involvement “perfectly aligns with our mission to create a World Cup experience that leaves a meaningful legacy for generations to come.”

Paired with rap great Snoop Dogg, who serves as Community Chairman, Magic’s appointment underscores LA’s unique ability to merge sport and entertainment.
