Alisson, Gravenberch & Konaté: Latest Liverpool injury news and expected return dates ahead of…

The latest Liverpool injury news ahead of their derby game against Manchester United, with updates on Alisson, Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahime Konaté.

Liverpool return to Premier League action this Sunday when they welcome old rivals Manchester United to Anfield – but there are question marks over the fitness of several key players ahead of a massive match.

Goalkeeper Alisson and key centre-back Ibrahima Konaté are among the doubts while there are also concerns over the health of in-form midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. In total, there are five players carrying injuries into a derby game which has become a must-win off the back of three consecutive defeats.

We’ve got all of the latest Liverpool injury news below ahead of Sunday’s game, along with the stricken players’ expected return dates when available.

Was Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch injured on international duty?

Alarms were raised when Gravenberch was substituted at half-time during the Netherlands’ 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Finland, and Dutch boss Ronald Koeman added to Liverpool’s concerns when he admitted that Gravenberch had “some minor hamstring problems.”

Gravenberch himself moved to allay fans’ fears ahead of Sunday, telling the media that while his withdrawal was “partly fitness related” it was also only “a precaution” and he was “feeling good.”

Gravneberch will now be assessed at Liverpool’s training ground ahead of the weekend, but early indications are that he is likely to be able to play at least some role. It is less clear as to whether Arne Slot will be able to call upon fellow midfielder Wataru Endo, however.

Endo was left out of Japan’s international squad for their games against Paraguay and Brazil due to an unspecified injury, the nature and extent of which have not been made public. There have not yet been any indications as to whether he will be fit to face United.

Will Alisson & Ibrahime Konaté be fit to face Manchester United?

There is also doubt over the timeframe for the return of goalkeeper Alisson, who sustained a hamstring injury which kept him out of the recent 2-1 loss to Chelsea.

Slot has been reluctant to provide a precise timeframe for the Brazilian’s return but has said that he would “be surprised if he [Alisson] will be there for the first game after the international break,” and there has been speculation that he could be out for another month or so. In the worst case scenario, Alisson could be absent until after the November break, in which case he would be targeting the home fixture against Nottingham Forest on 22 November for his return.

There is also concern about the fitness of defender Konaté, who picked up a thigh injury during the Chelsea match and had to be substituted. While he was selected for the France squad, the 26-year-old missed the match against Azerbaijan on Friday evening and was then sent home from the squad.

Konaté’s status for Sunday is currently unknown and he will be assessed ahead of the game. It is not believed that he has sustained a long-term injury, but he is a major doubt prior to the match against United. Fellow centre-back Giovanni Leoni remains a long-term absentee after he sustained an ACL injury which is likely to force him to miss the rest of the 2025/26 season.
