Chelsea supporters thought their worst fears were being realised when news emerged that Reece James was not going to represent England during the international break due to an injury concern.
2025 has been a really positive year in terms of fitness for James, with him yet to be absent from a game due to injury since his return against Bournemouth in January.
Thomas Tuchel has relied on James greatly since taking over as England manager, obviously safe in the knowledge that he is a quality player based on their time together at Stamford Bridge.
James picked up a deep cut on his leg in the win against Liverpool, leaving Blues fans to believe that was the reason behind his withdrawal from international duty.

Chelsea expect Reece James to be fit to face Nottingham Forest
With Chelsea taking extra care over the club captain’s condition in order to keep him fit this time around, many would have thought that he would not find himself in the squad for their next game against Nottingham Forest when the Premier League returns.
However, according to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are expecting James to be fit in time for Saturday’s game against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
James played 90 minutes when Chelsea went to the City Ground last season in what turned out to be the crucial victory which secured them Champions League football for this campaign.
Given the magnitude of injury problems the club are currently dealing with, the 25-year-old will be a crucial inclusion in order to maintain their winning run in the competition.

Chelsea’s ongoing injury crisis
Cole Palmer will not be fit to face Forest at the weekend. Despite also missing England duty, he is not expected back in action until next month.
Liam Delap is also still absent, while it is not expected that all of their injured centre-backs will return in time for Saturday’s game.
There are now doubts over Enzo Fernandez’s status after he left the Argentina camp following the first game of their international break.
The Blues could be up against it in terms of who is fit, and the status of their club captain could end up being crucial to securing all three points.
