Pressure is Now on Cleveland Browns Offense: They Need to Show Progress

There are also players, veterans, who want to keep this group together. Some of that is out of loyalty to their teammates and coaches. For others, change could include a major reset veterans do not want to endure.

So as much as some insist there is a fissure in the locker room, there isn't. Not yet anyway. The ample frustration and disappointment are problems in their own right. Those are issues that can grow and lead to more serious problems down the road. This group desperately needs a win.

This week the Browns will host the Miami Dolphins who are likewise 1-5. This is the type of opponent the Browns need to defeat. This is the type of game where the offense needs to start showing growth, progress. If the Browns continue to struggle against what is decidedly a lesser area of the schedule, unable to score points and win games, the temperature in that building will quickly increase.

The belief in Berea is the passing game just need a spark to start finding some continuity. The offensive line injuries continue to be a hurdle, but it's one they must find a way to clear.

After a game against the New England Patriots on the road, the Browns have their own bye. The Browns will hopefully be able to get healthier, but that will be a critical week to reset and make improvements, potentially some critical decisions. As it stands, they are slated to then play the currently winless New York Jets on the road.

If the Browns are able to come out of that stretch with a 3-6 record or better, then it starts to look like they are progressing. It's a start. One that must continue from there, but between the schedule becoming less imposing and what would then be improvement, there's certainly at least a path to a better product on offense.

But it needs to start now. This week. Get Quinshon Judkins going and build from there. Find a way to connect on explosives the there for the taking and score points. Gain confidence and find continuity. Find ways to win that don't require near perfection from the defense and special teams. There are plenty already beginning to shovel dirt on this regime. This is their opportunity to make a stand and start turning the tide. The Cleveland Browns need to have a great week.
