The Seattle Seahawks [survived in Week 6](https://12thmanrising.com/jaxon-smith-njigba-taught-jaguars-new-seattle-seahawks-daddy). The defense was weakened by missing so many starters, and 12s might have rightfully thought that they would see a repeat of Week 5 when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were unstoppable.
Thankfully, Trevor Lawrence is no Baker Mayfield. Perhaps no quarterback in the NFL is Baker Mayfield right now. Seattle learned that.
But the Seahawks are also learning that they cannot seem to win consistently at home while at the same time being nearly unbeatable on the road. No logic exists for the situation, but the fact remains. Under [head coach Mike Macdonald](https://12thmanrising.com/mike-macdonald-just-reminded-seattle-seahawks-fans-why-head-coach), Seattle has a much better chance at a victory away from Lumen Field.
Mike Macdonald's Seattle Seahawks can't win at home but can't lose on the road
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Through Week 6 of this season, Macdonald's teams are 4-8 at home since he became head coach before the 2024 season, but an astonishing 10-1 on the road. It isn't like the Seahawks are playing a bunch of bad teams on the road. The Jacksonville Jaguars were 4-1 before they lost to Seattle, after all.
The practice schedule is fairly the same whether a team is at home or on the road. Teams do walk-throughs on Saturdays and practice to some degree on Wednesdays through Fridays. The coaches are preparing for the game the same way and trying to implement the game plan the same way as well.
So, what is going on? There is no real answer. Surely, if Mike Macdonald and the coaching staff knew then, they would change things. The head coach is also open to feedback on what veteran players are seeing, but no input has changed what is trending.
For Seattle to have any chance at the playoffs, the team needs to start winning at Lumen Field. Three teams are tied atop the NFC West through six games with records of 4-2. The Arizona Cardinals are in last at 2-4, but are still a feisty group.
Barring an injury to quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Los Angeles Rams aren't likely to start losing a bunch of games. The San Francisco 49ers are eventually going to get some healthy players back, so that they sit at 4-2 currently is rather incredible.
Maybe a positive aspect is that the Seahawks don't play the 49ers at home again this season (unless it's in the playoffs). Seattle lost to San Francisco in Week 1 at Lumen Field. In an odd way, Seattle traveling to play the 49ers might give the Seahawks the advantage when the teams meet in Week 18.
