There were several questions surrounding the Green Bay Packers heading into the 2025 NFL season.
One of the most pressing questions was about their defense, as people were unsure what everyone’s roles would look like with Micah Parsons on the field.
Parsons had been a game-wrecker throughout his career, and while many expected him to have that same impact in Green Bay, it was unclear how his teammates would respond.
To this point, they’ve only gotten better with him on the field, as Parsons often demands double-teams from opponents, which frees up his counterparts to have big games.
Analyst Felipe Reis Aceti pointed out on X about one of the recipients of Parsons’ presence, noting that Lukas Van Ness has already been responsible for 16 QB pressures this season.
Lukas Van Ness recorded 20 pressures in 18 games last year.
He already has 16 through five games this season.

This nearly matches his 18-game total from 2024, where he had 20 QB pressures all season.
Van Ness is dealing with a foot injury, which could hold him out for a few weeks, so it will be interesting to see what the Packers’ defense does without him on the field, given how well he’s pressured QBs this year.
When he’s healthy, it’s evident that the Packers’ defensive front is among the best in the league, as they’ve shut down some of the best offenses in football through five weeks.
Their performance against the Dallas Cowboys, where they allowed 40 points, will hopefully be an anomaly, as this team has aspirations to make a deep playoff run, knowing the elite athletes they have on both sides of the ball.
