Analyst Uses 3 Words To Describe Matthew Golden

The Green Bay Packers had a well-documented drought of not selecting wide receivers in the first round of the NFL draft.

It was seemingly against their philosophies to do so, as fans had been clamoring for them to get aggressive for years, but they never pulled the trigger.

That drought ended in 2025, when the Packers used their first-round pick on Matthew Golden, a speedster out of the University of Texas.

Golden was expected to be the WR1 heading into the season, but he hasn’t had the workload, at least to this point, that many fans were expecting.

That time might be coming sooner rather than later, as he’s starting to heat up and gain better chemistry with Jordan Love.

Golden showcased his game-breaking speed in this game, only racking up three catches, but he turned them into 86 yards.

The Packers had been missing a true downfield threat, and while it’s still early in his career, it’s optimistic to think that Golden could easily turn into that player for them.

He’s starting to get into a groove, and when Christian Watson and Jayden Reed come back, this team is going to experience an embarrassment of riches at the wide receiver position.

It’s going to be a nightmare for opposing teams to try and defend four receivers, including Romeo Doubs, who can all put up big games when given the opportunity.
