La Liga 2025-26: Lamine Yamal attains full fitness; set to make comeback before El Clasico clash

Barcelona are set to receive a major boost ahead of their La Liga clash against Girona with Lamine Yamal set to make his comeback in that fixture. The teenage prodigy had been suffering from a recurring groin injury since September but the 18-year-old has reportedly attained full fitness.

According to sources close to the Barcelona squad, Yamal attended a full-length training session with the team on Tuesday (October 14). The talented winger participated for the entire duration and didn't seem to experience any discomfort. There will understandably be another assessment before the home fixture against Girona, scheduled for Saturday (October 18).

It will be a hectic eight day period for the reigning La Liga champions as they are due to face arch-rivals Real Madrid in the away El Clasico fixture on October 26. Before that, there is also a crucial Champions League fixture at home with Barcelona slated to host Olympiacos on October 21.

Yamal initially suffered the groin injury during the international break in September and missed four games after his stint with Spain. He was reportedly rushed back into the squad and the issue occurred again during Barcelona's Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germaine on October 2.

After that game, Yamal was once again rested with the aim of getting him fully fit before what would be a hectic month ahead for Barcelona who have recently had a slight dip in form. They are currently at second spot on the points table, trailing Real Madrid by two points, adding more spice to the upcoming El Clasico encounter.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid's next La Liga fixture will be an away encounter against Getafe on October 20, following which they will be hosting Juventus in the Champions League on October 23.
