It’s been an odd and frustrating month for the Green Bay Packers. Their offense has been generally good, but streaky. Their defense has seemed less than the sum of its parts. The special teams have been anything but special.
What kind of team are they, really? At the very least, they seem like a flawed team, but how different is that than the rest of the league? This week alone we saw the Eagles lose to the Giants and the Bills fall to the Falcons. That’s two supposed contenders falling on their faces against two teams that will probably be picking in the top half of the first round next spring.
Maybe this is the year of flawed teams, then. Maybe the playoff race is really a race against time, with the teams that consider themselves contenders working to iron out their flaws before we reach “win-or-go-home” territory.
That’s not that different from most other seasons, but maybe that’s the best reminder for Packers fans right now. If the Packers aren’t going through anything unusual, that means there’s still time and hope for this season to turn itself around.
