Pittsburgh Steelers get major injury update on bruising linebacker

The Pittsburgh Steelers have opened the 21-day window for inside linebacker Malik Harrison, the team announced on Tuesday.

He returned to practice on Monday, which means that November 3 will be the last day Harrison could be activated from injured reserve. If he is not, the inside linebacker would be out for the rest of the season.

Harrison went down with an MCL sprain against the New York Jets. He was placed on injured reserve immediately after suffering the injury, and has not played since, but the team should get him back sooner rather than later after rehab,

With the loss of standout special teamer Miles Killebrew to a knee injury, Harrison stands out as someone who could piece together some of what the standout special teams ace could do. Before his injury, Harrison was expected to be a key piece of the Steelers’ special teams unit.

An Ohio State product, Harrison was able to play in 15 games for the Ravens, notching two sacks and 54 tackles throughout the season alongside Roquan Smith. The Ravens went through multiple players after benching Trenton Simpson, including Harrison, who struggled.

He had 174 tackles in his career, seven tackles for loss, and four quarterback hits, with career-highs in every single category coming in 2024.
