Report: Everton Interested in Barcelona Forward, but Face Competition for his Signature

Everton are reportedly weighing up an approach for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at AS Monaco, where he has enjoyed an excellent start to the season.

The Spanish international has scored six goals in five games across all competition for the Ligue 1 side.

Indeed, the youngster has caught the attention of David Moyes, though Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are also interested.

That is according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, who claim Fati could move to England if Monaco don’t pursue a permanent deal.

The La Masia graduate is no stranger to the Premier League, having spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Brighton.

During his time on the South Coast, the Spaniard scored twice in 19 games.

FATI COULD BE AN AMBITIOUS SIGNING BY DAVID MOYES

Once considered the heir to Lionel Messi’s throne, Fati’s career has stalled in recent years.

Injuries and limited playing time under Hansi Flick have hampered his progress, but he appears to have rediscovered form in France.

His loan at AS Monaco runs until the end of the season, so any move for the 22-year-old would not be until next summer.

Perhaps a permanent move away from Catalonia is what Fati needs in order to fulfill his potential.

Indeed, should he maintain his form, AS Monaco would likely be tempted to pursue a permanent move.

They reportedly have an option to buy for a fee of around £10m, a fairly low price in today’s market.

However, Barcelona will insist on a £24m buy back clause should a deal be agreed with the Ligue 1 side.

The report states that Everton would likely have to pay a fee closer to the £24m should they make an approach.

He’d certainly be an ambitious signing from David Moyes, who will need striking reinforcements next summer.

Fati can play upfront and on the left, a position currently occupied by Jack Grealish.

Grealish is also enjoying a great start to the season, scoring his first goal for the Toffees last week.

Fati’s current deal at Camp Nou runs until 2028.
