Mavericks Rookie Could Be Poised For Big Role

The Dallas Mavericks are about to enjoy the rookie season of Cooper Flagg, one of the most exciting newcomers the league has seen in years.

However, he’s not the only rookie who could make noise for the Mavs in the new season.

Writing on social media, Noah Weber praised Ryan Nembhard, who is playing “selflessly” during the preseason.

“Ryan Nembhard’s passing is elite. He plays selflessly, almost always makes the right read, and gets everyone involved. With Dante Exum potentially set to miss time to begin the year, he could have a role waiting for him if he keeps this up,” Weber posted on X.

It will be hard to get out from under Flagg’s shadow, but Nembhard has a chance if he continues to show off these skills.

He has turned heads before, most notably during the Summer League.

His shooting from all over the court has been praised, including his work from beyond the three-point line.

The Canadian rookie is capable of offense from the post, mid-range, and beyond.

But as noted by Weber, it’s his passing abilities that might make the most impact.

The Mavericks want to be a well-balanced team, and they need a heavy emphasis on both defense and offense.

With Anthony Davis running the frontcourt, the defense seems under control, but head coach Jason Kidd needs more help on offense.

He wants players who will shoot but also pass and get everyone involved.

That seems to be the sort of player Nembhard is.

It’s not clear how many minutes he will get during his rookie campaign, especially since Dallas’ roster is becoming more and more packed.

But Mavericks fans should be excited because they have a couple of promising rookies coming to the team this year.
