FC Barcelona Contract Extensions and Injury Update

FC Barcelona have extended the contracts of goalkeepers Cata Coll and Gemma Font this month. Cata Coll, the team’s first-choice goalkeeper, signed a new deal until 2029, reinforcing her position as a key figure between the posts. At just 24 years old, Coll has already won every major title with the club: three UEFA [Women’s Champions Leagues](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-champions-league/), five Liga F titles, four Copas de la Reina, and five Spanish Super Cups. A Spain international, she made 40 appearances across all competitions last season. Since joining Barça in 2019, she has featured in over 95 matches and conceded only 39 goals.

Meanwhile, Gemma Font has also extended her contract, committing to the club until 2027. A product of FC Barcelona’s youth academy, Font was promoted to the first team in the 2018/19 season and currently serves as the backup to Coll.

Despite these renewals, the club still faces significant contract work. Key players such as Fridolina Rolfö and Ingrid Engen left this past summer, and several other major contracts are set to expire next year — including those of Claudia Pina, Caroline Graham Hansen, Ona Batlle, Mapi León, Salma Paralluelo, and Marta Torrejón. Club captain Alexia Putellas has an option to extend her contract by one additional year.

Striker Ewa Pajor left the pitch during the recent match against Atlético Madrid with what appeared to be a serious knee injury. Initial fears pointed toward a dreaded ACL tear, but the club later issued a more positive update: Pajor has suffered a posterolateral injury to her right knee without further associated damage. She is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks. Pajor has made a strong start at Barça, scoring 50 goals in just 55 appearances.
