The pain and misery Philadelphia Eagles fans have had to deal with when it comes to the CB2 position battle has been as rough as it gets.
It all started back in training camp with Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson going at it. Ringo and Jackson struggled in preseason, but it was Jackson who got the call to start.
After a horrendous first start against the Dallas Cowboys, Jackson bounced back nicely with two solid starts against the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams. After getting hurt in the Rams game, Ringo started the next three games, which were a mixed bag, until the Giants.
Ringo got torched in the game and missed multiple tackles. He was pulled in the second quarter, and Jackson returned to the starting lineup. Quinyon Mitchell got hurt later in the quarter, and Ringo was forced back into action. After penalties and inadequate coverage, Ringo played a poor game in the 34-17 loss to the Giants in Week 6.
It shouldn't be too much of a surprise, as Eagles fans have been worried about Ringo all year after how bad he looked in training camp and preseason. Now, Philly has an impossible task of picking between Ringo and Jackson to start, but was Ringo as bad as Eagles fans thought?
Vic Fangio chimed in on his analysis on the Ringo and Jackson
The media met with Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who answered multiple questions about the secondary. Fangio first responded to a question regarding how worried he is about the CB2 job.
"Well we got to settle in and find someone out there that we can rely on and I think we have the guys that can do that. We just got to get them playing better."
Regarding that earlier question about if Ringo was truly bad in the Giants game, Fangio didn't need many words to make it clear on what happened with the corner's bad game.
"He just got beat."
Now to the burning question every Eagles fan has, who does Fangio have as the starting CB2.
"You know, right now probably would be Adoree' with the way we're going to do it in the game and when Q went down, we played them both."
Despite Jackson getting the edge, Ringo actually has a better PFF overall grade with 51.5 (ranking 133rd out of 170. Jackson is only slightly worse at 45.8 (ranking 149th out of 170)

Picking the lesser of two evils is not easy to do, but Jackson appears to be the right call for now. Expect Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to work the phones to add another cornerback.
