Caleb Williams Is On Pace For Career Year

The Chicago Bears have never had an elite quarterback.

We’re talking about a team that has been around for more than 100 years, so that’s a bit sad.

Then again, this is a team that has usually relied on the running game, which makes sense, given that they play outdoors and in the Windy City.

However, Caleb Williams was called to put an end to that unfortunate streak once and for all.

And while some were quick to dismiss him and call him a bust, the former No. 1 pick has played quite well this season.

As pointed out by Dave BFR on X, Williams is currently on pace to throw for 4,008 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

He’s been a big factor with his legs as well, being the Bears’ second-leading rusher behind D’Andre Swift.

Keeping Matt Eberflus around after drafting Williams was clearly a mistake, but GM Ryan Poles did the right thing by getting Ben Johnson now.

As one of the sharpest and most creative offensive minds in all of football, the former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator has found a way to put his talented quarterback in a position to succeed.

Williams has also made better decisions, not making so many erratic throws and not trying to go for the home run on every dropback.

He’s one of the most talented quarterbacks we’ve ever seen, and as a former No. 1 pick, it only makes sense that expectations will be steep.

Still, he’s playing much better than he’s getting credit for.
