The Cincinnati Bengals have struggled immensely since star quarterback Joe Burrow went down with a turf toe injury that will most likely cost him his 2025 season. The Bengals have lost four straight games in Burrow’s absence.
While the offense hasn’t been great, the defense isn’t holding up its end of the bargain either. Cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, in particular, is having an extremely rough go of things as of late.
Bengals defensive coordinator Al Golden was asked about his plans for the struggling defensive back.
“Well, we’re always challenging everybody to be better. We have to coach better. He has to be better. Got to put him in better position in some of those third downs. But I think in general, we’re always, I mean, whether it’s Marco, DJ, like, guys are always rotating in and we’re always looking to see who best fits what we’re what we need in each game,” Golden responded.
Golden was also asked if he felt Taylor-Britt was pressing.
“I don’t know. It’s hard for me to like, honestly, if you guys have an opportunity to talk to him like that would be a question that you’d ask him. You know, we don’t want him to press. I’m just big on communicating. I’m big on looking somebody in the eyes and fixing an issue that any miscommunication, or any technique that may not be right or they don’t feel good about.
“I don’t really get into yelling like he knows he just gave up whatever you guys probably know, 39 yards or whatever, whatever it was, he knows that he doesn’t need somebody to beat him up, you know, and we don’t need him to press. We just, we just need him to focus on a little things get better, on the details every day. And obviously he’s got enough talent to take him through.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Taylor-Britt can get back on track on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
