A number of London-based youngsters featured in a convincing England under-19s win on Tuesday.

A few young London-based stars were in action for England under-19s as they thumped Wales under-19s on Tuesday. The young Three Lions won 7-0 in a game that saw plenty of rotation through substtutes during the game.

In all, from a London perspective, England’s team featured Max Dowman (Arsenal), Jesse Derry (Chelsea), Khari Ranson (Arsenal), Callum Olusesi (Tottenham), Airidas Golambeckis (West Ham), Shumaira Mheuka (Chelsea) and Mikey Moore (Tottenham - on loan with Rangers),

Two of those players were on the scoresheet, with Dowman, who started the game, making it 4-0 in the 55th minute. Moore scored almost immediately after coming off the bench to make it four goals in two games for England under-19s having scored a hat-trick against Belgium last time out.

Moore featured plenty for Tottenham last season but was allowed to seek a loan move coming into this season due to increased attacking competition under Thomas Frank. Rangers have had a torrid start to the season which saw Russell Martin sacked early into his reign, and Moore has made 10 appearances across all competitions, providing one assist to date.

Dowman well ahead of the curve

Dowman is playing well above his age group at just 15 years of age, and he has been around the first team at Arsenal this season. Mikel Arteta said of the youngster in the summer: "I think again the environment that he's around in, his family, the people at the club and around the academy as well, super helpful because they put him into this position so early in his journey, having a real chance and a real presence when he plays for the first time."

He added a month later after Dowman made his competitive debut: “Well, this is what we say every single day in training,” said Arteta, when asked about Dowman’s performance. And I think we just gathered information about how he handles certain situations in terms of training, being in the squad and not being selected afterwards in Manchester, coming on the bench and feeling ready.

“But again, a big compliment to his family. As well, I think they’ve raised a kid with a level of maturity, stability and hunger that is very difficult to see. And obviously, to the academy. Credit to all the coaches involved in that journey. Because there is a kid here that has zero hesitation. He’s so convinced that he can go at 15 and deliver that, which I’ve never witnessed in my life. And for us, it brings joy, it brings emotion and something else that makes our jobs so great.”
