The Jacksonville Jaguars are taking a long-term approach with two-way star Travis Hunter. That said, the rest of their rookie class is already making an impact. In particular, their Day 3 selections have shown plenty of promise this season.
Seventh-round pick LeQuint Allen has carved a niche as a returner and a pass blocker. On the other hand, sixth-round selection Rayuane Lane is shining on special teams. You can also add seventh-round pick Jonah Monheim to the list.
With center Robert Hainsey dealing with a hamstring injury, Monheim got the starting nod in the Week 7 loss against the Seattle Seahawks. And on a day in which most of the offensive line struggled, the rookie hog molly more than held his own.
Jonah Monheim shone in the Jaguars loss vs. the Seahawks
The Jaguars gave up an alarming 33 pressures and seven sacks against Seattle. Walker Little surrendered six pressures and four sacks, while right guard Patrick Mekari and left guard Ezra Cleveland allowed five pressures each. Meanwhile, Johna Monheim just gave up a lone pressure. On top of that, his promising outing earned him a spot on Pro Football Focus' Week 6 team.

Robert Hainsey is still recovering from the hamstring injury. However, he flew with the team to London for the Los Angeles Rams game, per Mia O' Brien of ESPN Radio. If he isn't good to go, Monheim will make his second start in a row.
Tank Lawrence (#0) is very good at football. Jonah Monheim actually does a pretty good job of turning the 1T back to the opposite side of the run design, but Lawrence closes this gap through force and makes Etienne bounce this run pic.twitter.com/1TI2yicj5M

Back at USC, Monheim lined up at several spots across the line of scrimmage but settled at center in his senior season. Like most late-round picks, he was seen as a developmental prospect, but has quickly exceeded expectations. Granted, it's only one game, but the team's brass should most definitely be thrilled about the early glimpses he's shown.
Jonah Monheim could become an O-Line cornerstone for the Jaguars
Robert Hainsey isn't probably in danger of losing his job. Once he's back at full strength, he should once again be the starter at center. However, the Jaguars will have their BYE after the Rams games, so they could usually rest him if he isn't good to go. And if that's the route they take, Jonah Monheim should get an extended look.
Hainsey signed a three-year deal with Jacksonville in free agency, so he should be starting center the remainder of 2025 and probably next year. In the meantime, Monheim could continue to hone his skills.
Ultimately, there's no doubt that Jonah Monheim has potential. That said, the Jaguars are probably focused on the task at hand: Getting back into the win column when they face the Rams, and the rookie once again will need to come through if called upon.
