Belief transfer to Everton has stalled player’s development – Hasn’t progressed his game

Youssef Chermiti’s time at Everton has left him stalled on the development front, with that evident during the international break.

That’s [according to O Jogo](https://www.ojogo.pt/) and journalist Luís Freitas Lobo, who cover the former Everton man today.

They explain that Chermiti was back in action for his country this week, playing for Portugal’s U21 side. He spearheaded their attack but left a very negative impression.

Lobo says it was evident that Chermiti, now 21, lacks ‘the rhythm and fundamentals’ of play. And that is down to his time at Everton. The feeling is that he wasn’t properly assessed when he made the move to Goodison Park.

If he had been, he perhaps wouldn’t have moved. And, Lobo argues, his development would have been more appropriate. He clearly feels that the move to Everton stalled the youngster’s development significantly.

He argues that becomes clear when you compare the striker to other players. In this case, it’s fellow youngster Gustavo Varela.

According to Lobo, when he entered the pitch the difference in performance from the number nine position was ‘evident’. The feeling is that he has ‘grown at the right pace’ while Chermiti has not. As a result, Varela is now a ‘deadly striker’ at 20-years-old who basically does everything right.

Chermiti, meanwhile, has lots of work to do. Everton was a mistake and his move to Rangers isn’t working out yet either.
