Cleveland Browns Film Room: Struggles in the Run Game

The Cleveland Browns had an awful rushing output on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, forcing them to call 58 pass plays, which is a losing recipe. Quinshon Judkins did all he could, but the Cleveland offensive line was unable to generate any push against Pittsburgh's ferocious front.

It really didn't matter what concept the Browns were running, or what the down and distance was, the Steelers' defensive line won the day, and it wasn't close. They generated 23 pressures, chasing Gabriel around all day, and were equally as dominant against the run, completely shutting down the best rookie running back in the NFL. Judkins was not dropped for a loss at all, and was stopped for no gain only once, which sounds good at first, but it only hammers home the fact that Pittsburgh's defensive line, while not attempting to penetrate the OL in the run game, gave up zero ground, staying in complete control of blocks and preventing Judkins from hitting holes hard.
