The Los Angeles Lakers went down 113-104 to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday to fall to 1-3 in the preseason. In good news however for the Lakers, franchise superstar Luka Doncic was productive in his first preseason outing of the year, scoring 25 points and grabbing seven rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
The performance against the Suns was the first chance for NBA fans to get a glimpse of Doncic’s prodigious talent heading into the 2025-26 season. But according to one of Doncic’s teammates, the former Dallas Maverick has apparently already been showcasing his insane basketball ability in practice.

When speaking to reporters, Lakers guard Austin Reaves hilariously recalled a seemingly crazy shot which Doncic attempted during practice.

“Some bull****,” Reaves said when asked to describe the practice shot. “A one foot, falling out of bounds from about 35 feet. He almost made it too but yeah, some bull****.”

Reaves also noted that Doncic’s belief in being able to hit any shot he takes can also have its’ pros and cons. Overall however, the fifth year player feels that Doncic’s confidence is one of the strengths of the Slovenian star’s game, especially considering the ebb and flow that takes place throughout the course of four quarters.

“It’s a blessing, but every now and then it’s a curse to think that you can make every shot,” Reaves said.

“When you’re that talented, it doesn’t take much to kinda get back in the flow of the game. You can kinda do that seamlessly.”
The Lakers will be without their veteran star LeBron James for the start of the new season as he recovers from sciatica. And so, Los Angeles may very well look to Luka to make a higher volume of buckets for the first few weeks of the year, regardless of the high degree of difficulty which the shots may possess.
