Manchester City youngster Sverre Nypan has admitted he was ‘taken aback’ by his first training session with Middlesbrough.

Having been [linked to Manchester United and others](https://sportwitness.co.uk/from-norway-latest-on-manchester-united-and-sverre-nypan-looks-like-red-devils-have-decided-to-move-on/), he joined Manchester City in the summer but was loaned to Middlesbrough for playing time and experience.
Nypan has been getting that so far, with seven appearances in the Championship. He’s only started two of those games but has been quickly picking up the minutes he and Manchester City wanted.
It’s not been an easy jump for the youngster, though. He’s had to quickly adapt to not only moving to England with Manchester City but then being quickly moved on to Middlesbrough shortly after his arrival.
Nypan, though, admits that the biggest issue was getting accustomed to the rigorous training Middlesbrough have in place.
_“I remember the first training there, I was running around and could hardly think,”_ he said.
_“You had to get up under pressure and run as much as you could. Gradually it becomes normal, the metres you have to cover become a habit._
_“Then you are able to calm your head down a bit and start thinking, at the same time as you cover the metres you have to. I feel like I am making progress every day. It is important to get pace in your game, that is what I am after.”_
Middlesbrough move “something I needed”

The hope is that Nypan develops quickly and adapts to life in England during his year in the North East.
Breaking into Manchester City’s first team is no mean feat, with only a handful of youngsters doing so successfully under Pep Guardiola. He feels he’s already making steps towards that goal at Middlesbrough.
_“I feel I have already taken some steps up in terms of fitness and have more steps to take,”_ he added.
_“Demands are set and that’s actually nice. It’s very educational and something I needed. I’m learning a lot from it. It was something I needed and part of the reason why I went there._
_“I don’t like to think that far into the future. I’ll take this season here with Middlesbrough, and we’ll see what happens.”_
