CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cavaliers just turned back the clock and somehow made it feel brand new.
For their 55th season, the Cavs unveiled their Classic Edition uniforms on Wednesday, a full-on throwback to the navy, wine and gold threads that defined an unforgettable stretch in franchise history.
Think 2003 through 2010. LeBron James flying through the air, Zydrunas Ilgauskas anchoring the paint, Daniel “Booby” Gibson raining threes and Anderson Varejão crashing the glass like every rebound meant his life. The same era that ushered in the franchise’s first Finals appearance and revived basketball in Cleveland.
Designed in collaboration with Nike, the uniforms will serve as the Cavs’ one-year alternate, joining the Icon (wine), Association (white), Statement (black) and City Edition sets.
It’s a layered piece of history, a uniform that honors multiple eras at once.
And yes, that 2006-07 season will be celebrated all year long. The year Cleveland reached the NBA Finals for the first time.
But while the past will always be there to look back on, this new era — arguably the most complete roster assembled in Cavs history — wants to create a legacy of its own.
The Cavs will debut the Classic Edition uniform on Wednesday, Nov. 5, when they host the Philadelphia 76ers at Rocket Arena.
They’ll wear it for eight home games and three away games this season, including a Christmas Day showdown at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks. Other marquee matchups include home dates with the Lakers, Warriors, Celtics and Magic.

To complete the look, the Cavaliers are rolling out a Classic Edition court. A hardwood time capsule that ties the entire tribute together.
The Cavs say this look is a “tribute to the legends and triumphs that built the franchise.” But this announcement feels like a reminder that Cleveland’s past glories don’t have to stay in the past.
Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are aware that all eyes will be on Cleveland come playoff time. Under Kenny Atkinson, the Cavs are rediscovering their identity, playing faster, defending harder, and buying into the idea that the journey can once again lead back to the NBA’s biggest stage.
And that’s where the Classic Edition uniform comes full circle. The last time this look dominated the floor, the Cavs were chasing a title for the first time. This time, they’re chasing it again with a new core, a new coach and the same dream: a championship.
It’s clean. It’s nostalgic. It’s perfectly timed.
For a franchise built on resilience and renewal, the return of this jersey says plenty about what this organization believes in the 2025-26 roster. They’re hoping that history doesn’t just repeat itself, but that it can return with purpose.
