Spanish media reported that this injury could bring financial benefits to the Catalan club, thanks to FIFA's "Club Protection" program, which provides clubs with financial compensation when their players sustain injuries during international duty.
Compensation will be calculated starting on the 29th day of the injury, meaning in Lewandowski's case, November 8. Barcelona will receive approximately €20,548 per day for the player's absence after the first 28 days.
Lewandowski is expected to be out for between two weeks and a month and a half, meaning Barcelona will benefit from a significant financial compensation package despite their star's absence from crucial matches, most notably the El Clásico against Real Madrid on October 26.
