For years, the Green Bay Packers relied on their offense to do all of the heavy lifting.
They needed Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love to lead them to the top.
Despite having plenty of talent on defense, they rarely made the most of it.
Fortunately, that’s no longer the case.
Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley turned around that unit since arriving last season, and he’s kept it improving this season.
As shown by Ian Haritz on X, the Packers rank No. 8 in the NFL in terms of “Havoc” at 39.2 percent.
That’s the percentage of plays when a defense gets a pressure, forces a fumble, intercepts a pass, or breaks up a pass.
Top NFL defenses in "Havoc" which is the % of plays a defense gets a pressure, TFL, forced fumble, INT, or pass breakup:
1. Broncos (44.8%)
2. Buccaneers (42.9%)
3. Steelers (42.2%)
4. Falcons (40.8%)

The Packers are the only team in the league that has yet to give up a point in the first quarter, and while they’ve played one fewer game than most teams, that’s still remarkable.
Granted, some observers are still concerned about their tendency to take their foot off the gas in the second half, as they rank last in the league in fourth-quarter points allowed.
Yet, most of those points have been given up while holding a big lead, so those numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.
In fact, if it weren’t for those late-game woes when they’re already up double digits, chances are that the Packers would rank even higher in Havoc as well.
