Man Utd told they can hire‘top’manager to replace Ruben Amorim who‘wouldn’t shrink’at Old Trafford

Ruben Amorim ensured his job security wasn’t a hot topic in the international break by winning a game just before it, but the clouds continue to hover.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe gave him a strong backing, but that really means nothing in the grand scheme of things, especially if Man Utd find themselves in the bottom half before the November break.

Amidst such confusion and indecision, the talk around his replacements has gathered pace, with everyone from Oliver Glasner to Xavi and Andoni Iraola mentioned at different points.

Man Utd given intriguing Thomas Tuchel option

Thomas Tuchel is not a name that is out of left field when it comes to a potential Man Utd manager.

It is an open secret that Ineos negotiated extensively with Tuchel when they were pondering whether to sack Erik ten Hag after the FA Cup win.

That didn’t happen, and Tuchel is now the England manager, but with the World Cup on the horizon next year, anything can happen after that.

Darren Bent, speaking on Talksport, said Tuchel’s name could come up for the job again, especially if Amorim’s fate is decided at the end of the season.

He said: “Yeah, [Thomas Tuchel] is someone who is obviously a top manager. I think he’s a manager who wouldn’t shrink under pressure at Old Trafford either. So there’s no reason why not. I think he’s a manager who can adapt. He’s won big trophies.”

Tuchel would go against Ineos’ vision

Everything about Ineos so far has screamed about a decision-making process desperate for long-term success.

Tuchel, for all his qualities, has never shown the ability or desire to stay at a club for a long time, which is what made Ruben Amorim attractive to Ineos in the first place.

More importantly, if Tuchel is available immediately after the World Cup, it likely means something has gone very wrong for him.

United have been here before when they hired Jose Mourinho. He was a big name with a pedigree, but on a career downslide when he joined the club.

The club shouldn’t go for another manager who would likely be coming off a failed job. After all, if Tuchel wins the World Cup with England, would he really leave the job in the first place?
