The Detroit Pistons are nearing the start of the 2025-26 season, set for their penultimate game of the preseason against the Cleveland Cavaliers Tuesday night.
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff is still mixing and matching players ahead of the start of the season to get an idea of his roster. And he’ll get to see how starting center Jalen Duren meshes with this year’s team for the first time in preseason action.
After missing the first two games of preseason due to hamstring tightness, Duren is ready to go and starting for the Pistons in Cleveland.
The concern for Duren was minimal as he was considered day-to-day and took part in the Pistons’ public fan preview at Wayne State over the weekend.
He’ll officially suit up for Detroit against the Cavaliers ahead of their lone home preseason game on Thursday at Little Caesars Arena against the Washington Wizards.
Duren will be joined by Daniss Jenkins, Duncan Robinson, Ausar Thompson and Tobias Harris in the starting five.
Most of the Pistons’ expected regular starters like Cade Cunningham, Harris and Jaden Ivey are typically limited to just playing the first half if they get on the court at all during preseason games.
Duren solidified himself as a key part of the Pistons’ roster during last season’s run to the playoffs, averaging 11.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game on a career-best 69.2% shooting.
He’ll play an important part in the Detroit rotation again this year and will try to keep growing in his fourth season in the NBA.
