Crystal Palace’s in-demand midfielder Adam Wharton could ensure a battle for his signature as Manchester City are the latest in the race.
According to Fichajes, Manchester City are ready to enter the race for Adam Wharton, with Real Madrid also interested in the midfielder. Both those gigantic clubs are keen to bolster their midfield with a top-draw option for the next phase, although the Crystal Palace star may not be made available in January.
Crystal Palace have a fight on their hands with regards to keeping hold of their prized asset, Adam Wharton. The midfielder has been garnering rave reviews for his performances from last season, but particularly in this campaign, as the Eagles have had a tremendous start under Oliver Glasner.
Palace are ready to offer Wharton a bumper new deal to ward off suitors away from the midfielder, although the level of interest could make the whole operation difficult for the Londoners. For now, Wharton seems to be happy at Palace amid heavy interest from top clubs within the Premier League.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also among the suitors, while Manchester City are the latest to enter the race. Pep Guardiola could once again eye changes to his midfield with the likes of Nico Gonalez not performing to the current required levels, as Wharton could be viewed as his replacement.

Real Madrid are probably the headline act in the race for the €100 million-rated Premier League midfielder, as Xabi Alonso is eager to bring in a top-draw option for the next phase. Whether they have a liking for his massive price tag remains the question, but his technical ability and overall performances do make the Palace star someone the Spanish giants would splash the cash on.
Manchester City will surely have the financial capacity to get a deal in place, and could present the idea to Wharton to develop his career within the Premier League. For now, Palace are in a strong negotiating position owing to the midfielder’s long-term contract, and should they choose to sell, he will cost a nine-figure sum.
