Former Eagles center and current ESPN analyst Jason Kelce regularly shares his football opinions on television. However, on Tuesday, he felt compelled to address something he didn’t say: a fake quote about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show that was circulating on social media.
A quote shared on X and reposted by several accounts falsely claimed that Kelce commented on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show selection, with the false quote stating the following:
“If Bad Bunny is a bad fit for the Super Bowl, then maybe the people making these comments are a bad fit for America’s future.”
Kelce addressed the issue on X and thanked the platform for issuing a ‘community note’ to clarify that the quote was wrongly attributed to him.
“I normally don’t comment on things like this, but I feel I need to address that there are a number of accounts posting fake quotes and attributing them to me on this platform right now,” Kelce said. “I appreciate @X putting community notes on several and I will not address the other accounts specifically, because I do not want to amplify their engagement. But please know, unless you hear something directly from me via one of my platforms, it is not real.”
Bad Bunny has drawn criticism from President Donald Trump and MAGA supporters due to his endorsement of former Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and his parody of Trump in his ‘NUEVAYoL’ music video. Turning Point USA, a conservative organization, has announced it will host its own halftime show. Trump also stated he would deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to the event.
