Kansas City Chiefs star Rashee Rice posted a brief clip on social media, seemingly hyping up his return to the football field, though fans were not pleased at how he presented his suspension this season.
In March 2024, Rice was involved in a six-car crash in Dallas, which left four people with minor injuries, after his leased Lamborghini and a Chevrolet Corvette caused the accident. After fleeing the scene, the NFL wide receiver turned himself in and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation, paying more than $115,000 in restitution, along with the six-game suspension he received.

Despite the suspension stemming from his actions, Travis Kelce and other Chiefs players were slammed for wearing a shirt stating to "free" Rice from the suspension. Now, the wide receiver is trying to get the fans' energy up for his return.

Posting a video of himself working out and calling it "The RReturn" with a 10/21 date, the Chiefs star seemingly made the clip to stir the buzz around his return to the field, though fans were not happy to see the wide receiver's attempt to get fans excited to see him in uniform once again.
"We really making hype videos of coming back from suspension for his felony convictions?" one fan wrote on X in response. Another fan added: "A hype video after a 6-game suspension for almost killing people is so cool."
A third fan posted: "You'd think he was coming back from injury or something - bro just broke the law," while a fourth wrote: "Return hype video for serving a suspension as a felon and nearly murdering someone."

Other fans wondered if Rice's attempt to hype fans up was warranted, comparing him to other stars of the past. "Is this supposed to be like the return of prime AB or something? Lmao bro is coming off a suspension and he’s never been elite. What is happening here," another pondered.
One fan posted: "hype video of a suspension come back lol what a clown." By all accounts, fans were not thrilled with Rice's attempt to seemingly downplay his suspension and the reason he was suspended in the first place, while also hyping his return to the field.
After the incident, Rice posted a brief statement on social media apologizing for his part in the accident.

“Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday's accident,” Rice said in his statement posted to social media at the time.

“I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday's accident.”
What's more, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid explained that while the shirts his players wore were head-scratching, Reid believes that the notion came from a place of wanting their teammate to return.
"Yeah, I've seen it since. I didn't see it then, but I would tell you I know these guys love Rishi and they feel for him sitting out here, you know, and so it's I think it's no more than that," Reid said to ESPN Wichita. "I just think that those guys they love the kid and want him to feel part of it in their own way. I really don't think it's anything more than that."
