A legendary New York Jets player is reported to be in need of massive medical attention after retiring:

Nick Mangold, who starred at center for Gang Green for 11 seasons from 2006-2016, is currently looking for a donor to potentially save his life.

The 41-year-old ex-NFL star was an All-American at Ohio State before being selected with the 29th overall pick in the ’06 draft, where he later went on to make seven Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams across his decade-plus long career (all with the Jets).

In a release shared on Tuesday, Mangold opened up about his health struggles and revealed that he’s looking for a kidney donor with type O blood.

“In 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease,” Mangold wrote. “After a rough summer, I’m undergoing dialysis as we look for a kidney transplant. I always knew this day would come, but I thought I would have more time.”

“Unfortunately, I do not have any family able to donate at this time, so this is why I’m reaching out to you, our NY Jets community. I am in need of a kidney donor with type O blood,” the former O-lineman said.

“While this has been a tough stretch, I’m staying positive and focused on the path ahead. I’m looking forward to better days and getting back to full strength soon.”

“Nick Mangold is the best of the best. A shirt off his back type of guy. Let’s find him a Kidney,” Barstool’s Big Cat replied.

“Buckeye legend needs some help. Get yourself tested, an if you can’t help Nick, maybe you can help save someone else’s life,” a Buckeyes fan account posted.

Mangold also shared a link along with instructions on how to donate if someone happens to be a match. Hopefully, the Jets Ring of Honor member is able to find the help he needs. We’ll certainly be wishing him well.
