Horrible Vikings quarterback news confirmed

The Minnesota Vikings are eager to see what they have in young quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Unfortunately, the young quarterback has been out since Week 3 with an ankle injury.

The hope was that McCarthy would be able to return this week, coming off a bye, but that’s starting to look shaky, judging from McCarthy’s own words.

“It’s unfortunate and one of those really annoying injuries,” [McCarthy said on Wednesday, according to Pro Football Talk](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/j-j-mccarthy-acknowledges-his-ankle-is-not-fully-healed), “but I’m just continuing to work to get to 100 percent as fast as possible.”

“I’m striving every day to get there as fast as possible,” McCarthy assured.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said that both McCarthy and Carson Wentz would get first-team reps this week in practice and discussed what McCarthy needs to do to be ready to start.

“I think the big thing is just getting him back on the grass, in uniform, practicing, getting real live reps of pass rush and taking drops and applying some of the things that he’s worked really hard on as of late, as he’s kind of gotten to that phase of his rehab, applying it.”

“We’ve got to be smart here, and understand there’s a lot of things that go into play, and at the end of the day, I’m just going to do what I’m told and try to get better as fast as possible,” McCarthy said.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Vikings can stay afloat until McCarthy is ready to return.
