Travis Hunter took a step of faith that went beyond football on Sunday morning. Hours before the Jacksonville Jaguars’ matchup with Seattle, the rookie wideout was baptized at Celebration Church, publicly declaring his commitment to Christ before suiting up for the game.
A video of the moment spread across social media quickly. Hunter smiled as he rose from the water while ministers prayed over him.

When reporters asked why he’d chosen to get baptized before game day, his answer showed exactly where his priorities stood.
“That’s a crazy question. Why did I get baptized?” Hunter said, before pausing. “It’s Sunday. It’s God’s day. And I’ve been planning to get baptized for a minute. You know, I want to change my life forward, become a better man.”

The conviction in his voice was unmistakable when discussing what the moment meant.
“It means a lot. You know, becoming a better man, leaving my old flesh and just becoming the new Travis,” he explained.

But there’s more happening for Hunter than just personal growth. The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to expand his offensive role starting this Sunday at London’s Wembley Stadium, per ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.
Head coach Liam Coen revealed Wednesday that the team intends to emphasize plays where Hunter is the primary option, aiming to better utilize his elite speed and athleticism.

Last week against Seattle, Hunter recorded four catches for just 15 yards—his lowest output of the season, though one reception went for a 14-yard catch-and-run. Before that dip, his season low had been 21 yards in Week 3 against Houston. The numbers suggest opportunity is knocking.
Hunter’s remarks reflect a growing trend among NFL players who lean on faith for guidance.
As the Jaguars look to maximize his talents on the field, Hunter seems intent on building something bigger off it too.
