Paul Scholes shares if he still thinks Rodri is better than Chelsea's Moises Caicedo

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was recently asked who the better midfielder is out of Manchester City’s Rodri and Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo.

Scholes caused a lot of controversy when he initially left Caicedo out of his top five midfielders in world football.

While Caicedo was omitted from Scholes’ list, Rodri was included. Clearly, then, the 50-year-old felt that the former was inferior to the latter when compiling his list.

Whatever the case, Caicedo has undoubtedly been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season, if not the best. He scored a terrific goal against Liverpool just before the international break, helping Chelsea to beat their rivals 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Paul Scholes adamant Rodri is better than Moises Caicedo

Rodri has missed a lot of football this year because of an ACL injury. In total, the 29-year-old was only able to make three appearances in the Premier League last season.

Even so, Scholes has clearly not forgotten about Rodri’s ability and everything that the Spaniard has accomplished in a City shirt.

When asked to pick between Rodri and Caicedo, the retired England international went with the City midfielder.

Caicedo has been in the headlines during the international break after parting ways with his agent.

Caicedo is now being represented by his family, who will be expected to be involved in any negotiations over a new contract.

Chelsea want to hand Caicedo a fresh deal as a reward for his positive impact on the pitch and at Cobham.

Gary Neville’s verdict on Moises Caicedo

Scholes’ former United teammate Gary Neville is not in agreement with him. For the ex-defender, there is not a better midfielder than Caicedo in England at this moment in time.

As Neville discussed Caicedo’s performance against Liverpool, he said: “Moises Caicedo was the best player on the pitch by a mile today and he’s the best midfielder in the Premier League at this point in time. I’m comfortable saying that.”

The 23-year-old will have another chance to show everyone what he can do on Saturday when Chelsea face Nottingham Forest.

Enzo Maresca‘s side travel to the City Ground to take on a Forest side that have really struggled under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

It is thought that Postecoglou could be sacked and replaced by Sean Dyche if things do not improve.
