Tony Bellew has always represented a positive voice for Everton supporters.

Bellew is one of Everton’s biggest celebrity fans, but there is no doubting his passion as a regular at the Goodison club.

The former boxer speaks out regularly in positive terms about the Toffees, and recently, Bellew has given huge backing to Everton boss David Moyes.

Moyes has done a superb job since returning to Merseyside, with Everton’s win against Crystal Palace last time out summing up the passion inside the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Bellew has now made his feelings clear by revealing his biggest worry surrounding the L4 club moving deeper into the Premier League campaign.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Tony Bellew scared of the Championship

Everton are looking ahead to a clash with Manchester City at the weekend, with the chance of moving as high as third in the division.

This is proof of how excellent Moyes’ comeback has been for the Blues after years of relegation battles under the likes of Sean Dyche and Frank Lampard.

Managers in recent times have been up against a poor Toffees squad and have managed to scrape by in the Premier League.

The Merseysiders have maintained their status, remaining as one of just six teams to have never been relegated from the top tier.

Bellew revealed to talkSPORT on 16 October that he fears dropping out of the Premier League, generally speaking, because of how tough the Championship is.

He said: “You’ve got to look at the pedigree and the history. I just think that a club loses something huge when they get relegated.

“That’s why our worst fear as Evertonians was getting relegated because the Championship, in my opinion, is the hardest league in the world to get out of and survive in.

“*You see what’s happened with Luton, they went down and went down again. Everton have never been in the Championship, and we haven’t gone down because the fan base we have, the new stadium, the history and pedigree.*“

Everton aren’t in fear of relegation anymore

Bellew is right. The fear of the drop was huge at Goodison, especially with a new stadium being built on the horizon.

Dyche was shown the door last season as the situation continued to get scarier after a shocking start to the campaign on Merseyside.

Replacing him with Moyes has proven to be a stroke of genius, as the Scot has been able to carry them back up the table into a hugely positive position.

The signings of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish show a sign of intent and prove just how far Everton are from relegation right now.
