Jordan Pickford has been in the headlines recently as the Everton goalkeeper has shone for England.
The shot-stopper made history with the Three Lions, breaking Gordon Banks’ record by keeping clean sheets in eight 90-minute appearances after the 3-0 win over Wales on 9 October.
Pickford subsequently shut Latvia out in the World Cup qualifiers on 14 October as Thomas Tuchel’s side secured their place for the 2026 World Cup.
Lee Dixon had to be reminded of Everton’s greatness after claiming he’s “surprised” the 31-year-old shot-stopper isn’t at a “bigger club”, and the lack of trophies in L4 certainly won’t affect his reputation.

Harry Kane great even if he hadn’t won league title with Bayern Munich
Harry Kane would’ve been considered world-class even if he had stayed at Tottenham and not won a title, Jamie O’Hara says.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
The ex-Spurs midfielder has extended the same courtesy to Pickford, with the lack of trophies at the Toffees not a significant factor in determining his quality.
O’Hara has hailed the Blues’ goalkeeper, claiming he’s one of England’s greatest ever in the position.
Speaking on Sky Sports on 15 October, he said: “For me, he’s a great goalkeeper. He’s one of the greats. I think he’s one of England’s greatest goalkeepers, I really do, I believe that. He’s a fantastic goalie. His clean sheets, the way he is.”
“If they could’ve got Jordan Pickford, he would’ve answered all their problems” 🧤

O’Hara added: “Yeah, of course, he wants to win something; every player wants to win something. If Kane didn’t go to Bayern and win the title, he stayed at Tottenham and didn’t win anything, would we say Kane isn’t great? Of course, he’s great.”
Pickford has been criticised for staying at Goodison Park and now continuing at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but despite the lack of silverware, he’s shown his abilities at the top level with England.
Everton to tie Jordan Pickford down to new contract
Pickford’s new contract is being worked on at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the shot-stopper expected to put pen to paper on a new deal soon.
The Englishman is tied down to Everton until 2027, but it would make sense to offer him fresh terms.

With the goalkeeper making his 300th Premier League appearance for the Blues in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on 5 October, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him break some records in the near future.
There’s no doubting Pickford’s talent, and fans in L4 will be grateful that he’s decided to spend the peak of his career in Merseyside.
