Kilian Zierer’s pursuit of his first NFL regular-season appearance resumed on Wednesday. After the San Francisco 49ers released the former Auburn offensive tackle from their practice squad on Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars added Zierer to their practice squad on Wednesday, the NFL team announced.
The Jaguars are Zierer’s fourth team since the start of training camp. The Cleveland Browns were awarded Zierer as a waiver claim on Aug. 3 after the Atlanta Falcons had released him.
At the end of the preseason, Cleveland waived Zierer when it trimmed its roster to the regular-season limit, and the 49ers picked him up for their practice squad on Aug. 29.
Each NFL team has a 16-player practice squad. Members of the practice squad do everything the 53 members of the active roster do except play in the games. However, each team can elevate two members of its practice squad to active status for each game.

As a native of Munich, Germany, Zierer qualifies for the International Player Pathway Program, which allows a team to carry a 17th practice-squad member.
Auburn’s left tackle in 2022, Zierer entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Houston Texans. He spent his first season on injured reserve and his second on the Texans’ practice squad.
Zierer signed with the Falcons on Feb. 12.
The Jaguars play the Los Angeles Rams at 8:30 a.m. CDT Sunday in London. NFL Network will televise the game.
