While Mahomes received plenty of claps for his plays in the game, the matchup was not without drama. Mahomes himself found himself stirring the pot when he taunted Detroit’s Brian Branch on the field.

Patrick Mahomes did try to make amends after the game by trying to high-five Branch, who purposefully ignored him and walked away. Later on, Branch got into a fist-fight with KC’s JuJu Smith-Schuster and admitted to reporters that he was tired of the way that game officials treated the Chiefs differently.
Branch’s words do ring true since game officials have been highly partial toward the Chiefs in this season. This was even brought up many times in the previous season as well. Fans and analysts feel that this is because of KC’s relationship with Taylor Swift, who has been responsible for an uptick in ticket sales to Chiefs games, which directly helps the league themselves.
Patrick Mahomes As MVP Candidate Irks Emmanuel Acho
Patrick Mahomes’ numbers this year seem to be doing much better than the previous campaign, and different sources have placed him as the MVP frontrunner already. However, this itself is truly surprising since there are several other quarterbacks who are doing seriously better than Mahomes at this point.

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield is being hailed as a strong MVP candidate, leading his team to two more wins when compared to Mahomes. For Mayfield’s mind-blowing performance in the recent game against the 49ers, the entire crowd chanted ‘MVP! MVP!’ over and over again. As per Emmanuel Acho, this difference in ranking of Mahomes and Mayfield shows an incredible bias in the system, especially since the latter has a better win record right now.
“There’s a little bit of bias to it… We don’t see Baker Mayfield as an MVP. We can’t envision Baker Mayfield as an MVP.”Acho said.

Acho went on to remark that the public may not be used to Baker Mayfield as an MVP, as opposed to Patrick Mahomes who has won the title twice. Mahomes also has three Super Bowl rings with him, while Mayfield has none at this point.
