Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s now heard about Moises Caicedo’s future after changing agents

Chelsea star Moises Caicedo has made the decision to change agents, and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on what this means for his future.

Caicedo will now be represented by his family onthe back of a public decision to move away from Ali Barat, who helped secure his move to Stamford Bridge.

In the two years he has been at the club, he has continued to improve into one of the best midfielders in world football, with many pundits finally realising as much during their recent win against Liverpool.

Gary Neville hailed Caicedo as the best midfielder in England, ahead of the likes of Declan Rice, Ryan Gravenberch and Rodri.

Moises Caicedo Chelsea future in no doubt despite change of agent

After announcing he was changing agents, some speculation arose over what this meant for Caicedo’s future, and whether he was weighing up his options for a new club.

However, Fabrizio Romano has stated that the Ecuador international is fully focused on Chelsea, and is not considering a move away from West London.

He said: “I got many questions on what’s the situation of Moises Caicedo. was a statement on the official accounts of Moises Caicedo a few days ago about his decision to part ways with his previous agents and go with new people to advise him.

“Guys, this situation for Moises Caicedo from what I understand, is not linked to his future at Chelsea in this moment. Moises is happy at Chelsea. Moises is focused on Chelsea. Moises is only, it’s important to say that, focused on Chelsea.

“So sometimes I try to explain to you in football, there are some cases of players who can change agent because they are preparing a move for the following year. This is something that happens and when this happens I’m always coming here and telling you for example few days ago Justin Kluivert, the Netherlands winger, decided to sign with a new agency Epic Sports and there is a lot of interest in the player for 2026. So Kluivert can be an interesting case for 2026.

“The case of Moises Caicedo is different. Moises in this moment, is focused on Chelsea, fully focused on Chelsea. This is not linked to an imminent change of squad.”

Chelsea in conversations over new Caicedo contract

Despite offering players long-term contracts when they sign for the club, it is not uncommon for the Blues to negotiate new deals for their players under the current ownership.

Nicolas Jackson signed a new deal less than a year before he left on loan, with the wage structure at the club leaning into players being paid based on what they are delivering for the club.

Romano has stated that Chelsea are in discussions over a new deal for Caicedo too, however these talks did take place with his previous agent.

He said: “That’s not something that Caicedo is planning. He’s on a long contract at Chelsea. Chelsea already in August started some conversations with his previous agents over a potential new deal for Caicedo. The club maintained the intention to reward Caicedo with an important contract. He’s already in a big salary, so it’s not an urgent situation. He’s on a long contract so it’s not an imminent or urgent situation but Chelsea are very happy with Caicedo.

“Caicedo is happy at Chelsea. So that’s the situation at the moment.”
