Since joining Manchester City, Gianluigi Donnarumma has been a regular for Pep Guardiola’s side.
He’s played six times in all competitions, keeping four clean sheets. He also made key saves against Brentford and Manchester United.
The Italian starred for his national team against Israel, helping the Azzurri to a 3-0 win.
The 26-year-old has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport about his start to life at Manchester City.
He made it clear the Citizens have made him feel wanted since his arrival.
“I feel at home at City, even though it’s only been a short time since I moved there. They wanted me firmly, they made me feel important, and now they already consider me one of them.”
The goalkeeper was specifically asked about Pep Guardiola, to which he said: “When you listen to him, you’re enchanted.
“I imagined it like this, but the reality is even better than I imagined. I hope to stay in Manchester as long as possible, to have a truly unique experience.”
Donnarumma also expressed his gratitude for his career, in general, to date.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to experience very different realities. From Ligue 1 to the Premier League, where I recently arrived. From afar, I can say that our football is no less than the others.”
Guardiola has shown signs of adapting for Donnarumma. The manager is less reliant on keeping possession, with Manchester City seen going direct.
This suits the goalkeeper, whose ability on the ball is questionable. His strengths will come into focus more often under Guardiola, who clearly recognises the Italian’s abilities.
