Chelsea signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona in 2022, with the striker reuniting with Thomas Tuchel.
His spell at Stamford Bridge was unsuccessful, though, and he departed only a year later.
Of course, Tuchel’s surprise sacking did not help Aubameyang, while Chelsea struggled as a whole during his one and only season at the club.
The 36-year-old was at least able to make a couple of good friends during his time in west London. Aubameyang will go down as a flop signing, but he has tried to take one positive from his Chelsea career.

The season that Aubameyang joined Chelsea, Denis Zakaria also signed for the Blues.
Aubameyang got along well with the midfielder, as well as Hakim Ziyech, who had already been at Stamford Bridge before the former Arsenal captain’s arrival.
On The Residency app, Aubameyang was asked to share his best moments at Chelsea. In response, he replied: “In the locker room with my friends Ziyech and Zakaria.”
He also named Ziyech as his “best Chelsea teammate”, so the two clearly had a good relationship.
Since Aubameyang’s departure, Chelsea have bought Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro to address the centre-forward position.
Teenager Dastan Satpaev is also set to join Chelsea from Kairat Almaty next year. Another ex-Arsenal player, Andrey Arshavin, recently discussed Satpaev, claiming that he will not be any worse than Jackson in a couple of seasons.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s awful record at Chelsea
While at Arsenal, Aubameyang was one of the best strikers in the Premier League. Unfortunately for Chelsea, he did not re-establish that status in west London.
He finished the 2022/23 Premier League campaign with just one goal to his name. The Gabon international scored more goals in the Champions League in fewer appearances.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Chelsea stats Appearances Goals
Premier League 15 1
Champions League 6 2
Total 21 3
Aubameyang is not a bad No.9 and proved that at Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund. At Chelsea, things just did not work out.
Had Tuchel, whom Aubameyang thrived under at Dortmund, not been sacked, perhaps his Chelsea career would have gone differently.
