On paper, the Sacramento Kings seem to have a pretty good roster heading into the 2025-26 NBA season. However, a pair of prominent NBA experts are predicting a nightmare result in the new season.
After a 13-18 start to the 2024-25 season, the Kings took the bold step of trying to avoid a descent into chaos and fired head coach Mike Brown. While his replacement, Doug Christie, got off to a hot start, he still went 27-24 as the head coach, and the team again missed the playoffs.

Nevertheless, on paper, there seems to be a lot of potential in Sacramento with a full training camp to work in additions from last season and this summer. They have proven All-Star swingmen in Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. Talented big man Domantas Sabonis, and impact veteran guards Dennis Schroder, Malik Monk, and one-time NBA MVP Russell Westbrook.
Yet, veteran NBA analysts Zach Lowe and Bill Simmons are not fans of this roster, and during a new edition of the latter’s The Ringer podcast, they did not hide how much they hate them.
Zach Lowe and Bill Simmons hate 2025-26 Sacramento Kings
“I hate this team, I hate this roster, I hate that Keegan Murray’s already injured, I hate the vibes, I hate everything, I think this is going to be a year from hell for the Kings,” Lowe said.
In response, Simmons read some fan thoughts on social that included criticisms about the team having no cap space, or that, outside of Murray, they don’t have any young stars to build around.
“I feel bad for the Kings fans, because we got a taste of how cool it was, once upon a time,” said Simmons. “Two years ago feels like 20. It’s like they just decided to reassemble the 2023 Chicago Bulls with Domantas Sabonis. And that’s where we are now.
Sacramento Kings record (2024-25): 40-42
Lowe then took his hate for the Sacramento Kings roster and the prospects for the new season to a dark place. “This is the Hinderberg of NBA teams this year,” said Lowe.
The Kings have been to the playoffs just once (2023) since the 2006 season, and haven’t one a playoff series since 2004. Sacramento fans are also well aware that the franchise has never reached the NBA Finals. Lowe and Simmons don’t expect that streak to end this season.
