Ryan Babel has finally sold his Liverpool home after 18 years. The winger explained he’s leaving behind many memories, including the time Royston Drenthe transformed the place into a nightclub.
Babel, who had moved to Hoffenheim a few months earlier, rented the home to his fellow Dutch international when Drenthe joined Everton on loan in 201. According to Babel, Drenthe gave a whole new meaning to the expression “tenant from hell.”
“He forgot to pay his rent during his Everton days and even decided to build a nightclub in my house without my permission. You can’t make this stuff up,” Babel wrote on his X account.
Continuing about the memories in England, the 69-cap international Babel said, “It was the first place I lived after moving out of my parents’ house. The house is full of excitement, mistakes, and lessons. Whoever buys it, I hope it brings you as much joy as it has brought me.”
