Manchester United flexed their muscles in the summer transfer market by beating their rivals to the signatures of coveted players, and Bryan Mbeumo was a prime example of the same.
It is an open secret that Bryan Mbeumo was the subject of interest from Tottenham and Newcastle in the Premier League alone.
Brentford even tried to push him to Tottenham because of a reported higher bid, but the forward’s mind was set on joining Old Trafford.

Mbeumo’s sister has now given an insight into the ‘interesting’ reason why the Cameroonian ultimately made that decision.

Why Bryan Mbeumo joined Man Utd
On paper, Man Utd didn’t have much of a leg up over the likes of Spurs and Newcastle, who could offer Champions League football.
United aren’t even the club that presents open cheques to players to fill their salary slip anymore, so the reason wasn’t financial either.
The club’s prestige and the historical pedigree are the biggest selling points for any player now, and the longer United continue to struggle, that will start fading into the background.
That is why it’s so heartening to see that, beyond the “United are massive” rhetoric, Mbeumo had an on-pitch reason to join the club.

Speaking to The Athletic, Bryan Mbeumo’s sister revealed that when her brother called to tell her he was joining United, it was because he thought the club’s game plan was ‘interesting’.
There was, of course, the “club will be back” narrative that United have been using for the last decade, but the gameplay part is more tangible and rooted in reality.
She said that Mbeumo told her, “It’s a club that can bounce back. Their game plan is interesting. I’m committed. I’m a man of my word, for now I’m going there.”
Mbeumo’s reason is an endorsement of Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim has caught a lot of flak for sticking by his system, but nobody can fault his charm offensive and persuasion powers.
It’s why many Man Utd fans are still behind him, due to his force of personality, and it seems that’s why Mbeumo was also convinced to reject other clubs’ advances.
Amorim’s system has a clear plan for Mbeumo as the right-sided attacking midfielder, and despite the club’s poor start to the season, the player has repaid his manager’s faith.
Mbeumo has been the brightest spark in a mostly anaemic attack, lifting the team with him at moments with his displays of skill and, more importantly, his mentality.
This lends support to the claim that Ruben Amorim has the backing of his players, which will delight the Man Utd manager.
Now only if they follow Mbeumo’s path and start making a difference on the pitch!
