Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is the favorite to become the next NFL head coach to be fired, according to OddsShark, with odds of +200.

After recording back-to-back winning seasons to begin his Miami tenure, things have taken a downturn for McDaniel, whose team sits at 1-5 through six weeks of the 2025 season.

The Dolphins’ only win so far came in Week 4 against the New York Jets, the only winless team remaining in the NFL.

Matters were made worse for McDaniel when star wide out Tyreek Hill was ruled out for the season after suffering a gruesome knee injury against the Jets.

After falling to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa bemoaned a lack of leadership and team cohesion, a clear indication that McDaniel’s coaching style is not resonating with his team.

McDaniel still has time to save his job, starting with Miami’s Week 7 contest against the Cleveland Browns.

If McDaniel is relieved of his duties, he likely will have little trouble finding work on a new NFL sideline as an offensive coach, his area of expertise. The 42-year-old previously had Miami’s offense thriving among the league’s best.

In 2023, the Dolphins offense finished first in the NFL in total yards, rushing touchdowns, rushing yards per attempt, and passing yards.

The Tua-led attack, armed with weapons including Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane, famously demolished the Broncos 70-20 in Week 3 that season, the most points scored by a team in a single game since 1966.

The following year, the Dolphins regressed to just below league average in each of those categories, and in 2025, McDaniel’s offense currently ranks 26th out of 32 teams in total yards.

Outside of McDaniel, Jets first-year head coach Aaron Glenn (+300) is rated second-favorite to be the next head coach fired, followed by Cincinnati’s Zac Taylor (+500) and Giants head coach Brian Daboll (+800).

Glenn was highly sought after this offseason following his departure from the Detroit Lions, where he served as defensive coordinator for four seasons.
