The Detroit Lions immediately signed defensive back Jammie Robinson after he was released by the Kansas City Chiefs.

There was an unexpected bit of Kansas City Chiefs news ahead of Week 7, following the Week 6 victory over the Detroit Lions.

“The Lions are signing DB Jammie Robinson to a one-year deal, per source,” ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported on the evening of October 15.

Fowler also reminded followers that Robinson “was with Kansas City’s practice squad previously” and Detroit is “depleted in the secondary.” But he’s underselling this turn of events.

The Chiefs re-signed wide receiver Jason Brownlee to the practice squad on Wednesday after waiving him so that they could activate Rashee Rice. As a corresponding move, KSHB 41 beat reporter Nick Jacobs relayed that “the team terminated the PS contract of DB Jammie Robinson.”

However, now it appears that the Lions may have actually poached Robinson to their active roster. Or, at the very least, Detroit wasted no time snatching Robinson up in free agency.

There has been a ton of controversy and drama surrounding the ending of the Chiefs-Lions game. Needless to say, Detroit immediately signing a KC departure doesn’t do anything to quell this budding rivalry.

Chiefs Re-Sign WR Jason Brownlee After Week 7 Cut

It was unclear if Brownlee would re-sign after he hit waivers earlier this week. The 26-year-old cleared waivers without a hitch, but he also dropped a cryptic post just before that happened.

My story gone end legendary ‼️💫 #🧱x🧱

“My story gone end legendary ‼️💫 #🧱x🧱,” Brownlee expressed on X, following his brief cut from the Chiefs organization.

The 6-foot-3 pass-catcher and former UDFA of the New York Jets logged 21 total snaps on offense and another 21 on special teams for KC in 2025, but did not record a catch. He was targeted once by quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Brownlee spent the 2024 campaign on the Jets’ practice squad, but with their active roster as a rookie in 2023, he caught 5 of his 8 targets for 56 yards and 1 touchdown.

Adding Brownlee back to the practice squad secures the wide receiver position with reliable depth that is familiar with both Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid’s offense.
