Exclusive: Leeds United add Champions League no.10 to transfer radar ahead of January

Leeds United may have maxed out their position under Profit & Sustainability Rules, but the club are still pursuing targets ahead of January and a Champions League attacker is now on their radar.

Leeds spent north of £100m in the summer on 10 new arrivals, and managing director Robbie Evans claims that has seen Leeds reach the PSR limit. But, they did so without Leeds selling any of their players.

Pascal Struijk and Willy Gnonto were identified as profitable sales if the club needed a PSR boost, but it never came to that. Even if a deal for Harry Wilson on deadline day would have gone over the limit.

Evans said Leeds would try to avoid January, but reports say Leeds could still make moves in the winter window. Leeds have already been linked with attacking players and now, a Norwegian is on the radar.

Leeds add Bodo/Glimt star Jens Petter Hauge to January list

Already, Serie A duo Lorenzo Pellegrini and Piotr Zielinski have been linked with Leeds, while interest in Harry Wilson remains ahead of January. Jermaine Beckford is desperate for Leeds to sign the Wales ace.

But, LeedsUnited.News insider Graeme Bailey says another has been added to Adam Underwood’s list ahead of January. Bailey says that Leeds are interested in Bodo/Glimt’s Norway star Jens Petter Hauge.

“One name they like is Jens Petter Hauge. He’s on the radar. He’s one who Leeds have had a look at, because the Red Bulls have looked at him,” Bailey told LeedsUnited.News, regarding the Norwegian.

Hauge’s last outing was his 200th for Bodo/Glimt, coming in the Champions League against Archie Gray’s Tottenham. Hauge scored twice, taking his tally to 56 goals and 51 assists in those 200 games for his side.

It was a game that saw Spurs come from two down to draw 2-2, with Gray slamming a shot on goal only for the goalkeeper’s save to be deflected in. That was a few days before Spurs came to Elland Road.

Mostly a left-sided winger, Hauge can play anywhere in the front three or even as a no.10. At 6ft 1in, he also fits in with the Leeds mould of signing experienced internationals in their mid-twenties over 6ft.
