NFL fans call for ‘ridiculous’ commercial to be banned

NFL fans are unhappy with a commercial that keeps being played during NFL games.

With Halloween approaching, “Blank Phone 2″ is set to be released in theaters later this month. The trailer for the movie has been shown during NFL games lately, including during Sunday night’s Chiefs vs. Lions showdown.

A lot of fans feel that the ad is inappropriate and should not be shown as children may be watching the games.

“The horror commercials on football broadcasts are legitimately insane,” Parker Fleming said on X. “I’m not trying to be a Karen, but I’m just trying to watch football with my daughter, not traumatize her with horrific images and jump scares.”

The replies to his post, which reached more than 230,000 people, were filled with fans in agreement with Fleming.

"Literally was just complaining to my wife about the same ad,“ one fan said. ”I shouldn’t have to worry about the commercials during a football game if my 2 year old is nearby."

Another added: “It’s ridiculous. I first started noticing with pre-roll ads on NBA highlights on ESPN’s website. Then legit every summer during the Finals they pump some random summer horror film. Now it’s SNF. I don’t have kids, but I can’t imagine. Commercials, like movie previews, should match the content it’s attached to.”

While plenty of people agreed with Fleming in the comments, others pointed out that there are all sorts of commercials and many of them are not great for children.

"Yeah, instead we need your daughter to see ads for the greatness of Bud Light and the latest sports gambling app," one fan sarcastically replied.

“Blank Phone 2″ is set to be released in theaters on Friday, Oct. 17.
