AC Milan are keeping tabs on Lucas Digne’s situation ahead of a potential move next summer to improve their squad with an experienced professional.
According to Milan Live, Lucas Digne is emerging to be a big target for AC Milan ahead of next summer. The Rossoneri are planning to make an approach after the season ends as they view the Frenchman as an ideal solution for their defensive setup, as well as a low-cost acquisition given the experience he carries.
Lucas Digne continues to be a player trusted by Unai Emery at Aston Villa, but there are no guarantees that this will be the case going forward. Since his £25 million move from Everton in the winter transfer window of 2022, the Frenchman has been the main left-back option for the Birmingham side, and continues to be so.
Aston Villa secured his services until 2028 after Digne signed a new deal back in the summer, although that agreement might be more of a measure to protect his valuation. The full-back will be 33 by the end of the current season, and there is a chance that Aston Villa probably sell him.
The club have already invested in Ian Maatsen in the summer of 2024, although the former Chelsea man has not yet established himself ahead of Lucas Digne. From the club’s perspective, they will want to accelerate Maatsen’s development into their first-choice left-back moving forward. However, Digne continues to hold that position despite a difficult start for the club this season, but things could change.
Atletico Madrid were interested in Digne back in the summer, but the new deal affirmed the player’s desire to continue with his current surroundings.
