Colin Cowherd Lays Out Blueprint to Fix Multiple Jets Issue

It is no secret that the New York Jets‘ season has been an absolute disaster through six weeks.

There is not much hope left for this season after an 0-6 start, meaning most folks are looking ahead at the future for New York. Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd is one of those people and Thursday on his show “The Herd,” Cowherd laid out his four-step blueprint for how to fix the Jets heading into next season.

“No. 1, I would keep Aaron Glenn for the rest of the season,” Cowherd said. ” I want a clean coaching search, and I don’t think he’s gonna turn it around. I would keep him for the rest of the season. Do not trade away any of your best players. … Stay out of the trade deadline stuff. Hire an offensive head coach at the end of the year after letting Aaron go and then just draft the best college quarterback available.”

Cowherd referenced multiple times during the plan that it should be a one-and-done situation in New York for Glenn, and he even named former Cowboys and Packers head coach Mike McCarthy as a potential replacement. Cowherd made sure to explain that McCarthy would be a much better option than hiring a position coach with little-to-no head coaching experience.

As far as the best college quarterback available goes, we highlighted Wednesday that an early mock draft had the Jets selecting Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL draft. With the current season that Mendoza is putting together, he would certainly qualify as one of the top college quarterbacks that will be available in the draft next season.

The rebuilding process won’t be a quick one, but Cowherd’s blueprint may indeed be worth following for general manager Darren Mougey and Co.
